New Grotto

St. Benedict has now moved back into our garden and can once again keep watch over us and over our house!

St. Benedict, pray for us!

At long last our new Grotto of St. Benedict in our garden is completed and was able to be blessed by Abbot Benedikt from Maria Laach.

After having being used as a climbing frame by the children of our neighbour-hood, and having suffered the wear and tear of the weather and the over-growing ivy, the old Grotto risked collapsing and so had to be demolished.

Our former caretaker, Paul Heintges, bringing with him lava-stone from the Eifel, patiently and affectionately built us a new Grotto. A job that lasted several months! A piece of rock which Sr. Klara brought over from Subiaco while on holiday in Italy last year, was also built into the Grotto.
We are extremely grateful for this small and "newly old" place in our garden.

Sr. Anna, together with our helpers and our Oblate Willi, put the finishing touches to everything by planting greenery and providing water for all that splendidly grows around the Grotto.
